چکیده

We present a formulation of the determination of the impedance between any two nodes in an impedance network. An impedance network is described by its Laplacian matrix L which has generally complex matrix elements. We show that by solving the equation Luα = λα u ∗ α with orthonormal vectors ua, the effective impedance between nodes p and q of the network is Zpq = ∑ α(uαp − uα q)/λα where the summation is over all λα not identically equal to zero and uαp is the p-th component of uα. For networks consisting of inductances L and capacitances C, the formulation leads to the occurrence of resonances at frequencies associated with the vanishing of λα. This curious result suggests the possibility of practical applications to resonant circuits. Our formulation is illustrated by explicit examples.

Theory of impedance networks: the two-point impedance and LC resonances

Active RC Single-Opamp Design of Driving-Point Impedances

&&act-The active RC simulation of LC filters is of interest, due to the excellent sensitivity properties thereby obtained. Most known designs of active RC driving-point impedances necessary for the simulation of an LC filter, require two opamps per impedance. In this paper a method is presented that realizes general second-order driving-point impedances with only one opamp and with a minimum nu...

Applications of Impedance Plane and Magnetic Differential Permeability in Microstructural Characterization of AISI D2 Tool Steel

Two nondestructive electromagnetic/magnetic techniques including hysteresis loop and eddy current methodologies have been used to characterize microstructural changes of AISI D2 cold work tool steel as a result of quench and tempering treatments. To measure the fraction retained austenite in quenched microstructure, six specimens were austenitized in the range  of 1000-1130 °C. Samples austenit...

Asymmetrical-fed RHCP Wide-Band Slot Element for X-Band applications

An outstanding square slot element, for x-band wireless applications with asymmetric coplanar waveguide fed (CPW) is proposed. Various shapes of metallic strips are utilized as grounded stubs for providing Right Hand Circular Polarization (RHCP) functionality and wide-band properties. By adjusting the proposed stubs and hook-shaped radiator, length and positions, wider impedance band width is o...

RF Coils, Helical Resonators and Voltage Magnification by Coherent Spatial Modes

By modeling a wire-wound coil as an anisotropically conducting cylindrical boundary, one may start from Maxwell’s equations and deduce the structure’s resonant behavior. Not only can the propagation factor and characteristic impedance be determined for such a helically disposed surface waveguide, but also its resonances, “self-capacitance” (so-called), and its voltage magnification by standing ...
